Stena Line has continued its tradition of supporting the local maritime industry by placing a £4.4m contract with Harland and Wolff for the refit of its Irish Sea ferry fleet.

Harland and Wolff announce the contract award of the dry docking and Renewal / Special Periodic Survey of the Byford Dolphin Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) by Aberdeen-based Dolphin Drilling Limited. Following on the successful completion of its sister rig the Blackford Dolphin in 2014, the Byford project is expected to commence in early 2015.

Harland and Wolff certified to CE mark fabricated structures with award of EN 1090-2 EXC3

Harland and Wolff are delighted to announce certification which will allow CE marking of its fabricated structural steelwork. As of 1st July 2014 it is a mandatory requirement within the European Union that steelwork fabricators are in compliance with ISO EN 1090.

Harland and Wolff have performed the World’s heaviest single point WaterLoad test at the shipyard facility in Belfast, United Kingdom. The massive Samson gantry crane lifted an incredible 774 tonne load in order to certify Harland and Wolff’s latest spreader beam arrangement. The spreader beam has been a strategic investment to support the company’s handling capability for large offshore structures such as jackets and offshore modules.
