This week we welcomed Peter Grant, MP for Glenrothes, and Gavin Newlands, Shadow SNP Spokesperson for Transport, to our Methil yard.
Mr Grant and Mr Newlands toured the yard, with Ben Murray our Director of Government & Corporate Affairs and Matt Smith, General Manager (Methil) and Group Director of Commercial – Renewables and Energy.
They discussed various topics including how government and industry can work together to deliver quality jobs from renewables, the Clean Maritime Plan and also the recent work that Harland & Wolff carried out on the Cory Barges, with the first barge being recently completed.
The group also discussed local issues such as the renewables supply chain in Scotland and the ongoing SOWEC (Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council) application that will look to provide infrastructure upgrades at both the Methil and Arnish sites.
Ben Murray, Director of Government and Corporate Affairs commented the following:
“We were pleased to welcome local MP Peter Grant and SNP Transport Spokesperson Gavin Newlands MP to our Methil yard this week.
Our team had a productive conversation about our plans and ambitions for the site, with a particular focus on the renewables supply chain and how both the Scottish and UK governments can help unlock future growth opportunities.”
