Harland & Wolff is pleased to announce the successful completion of a key milestone for the KBS cable barge project at our Appledore site.

On 6th July, we successfully flooded the dock and relocated the KBS Maritime cable barge and HMS Aths to the New Quay yard. This operation represents a significant advancement in the project. The new cable barge is set to play a crucial role at His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Portsmouth, aiding in the maintenance and refurbishment of warship anchors and chains.

Mark Lawther, General Manager for H&W (Appledore), commended his team for their relentless efforts and exceptional craftsmanship:

“We are extremely proud of another fabrication success as we build momentum in readiness for more commercial marine potential orders and our planning preparation for Fleet Solid Support bow sections cut 1st steel in Q1, 2025.”

Why It Matters:

Operational Efficiency: Ensures the continued delivery of vital services to the Royal Navy.

Strategic Growth: Supports our ramp-up for the delivery of the FSS contract.

Quality Craftsmanship: Demonstrates the skill and dedication of our team in delivering high-quality marine solutions.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated team at Appledore and to KBS Maritime for their collaboration.
